Scottish wildcats are close to extinct in the UK, and so measures are being taken to stop them from dieing out, and to prevent them from crossbreeding with domestic cats. Scottish Wildcats are bigger than a domestic cat, with a shorter and stub ended tail with distinctive bands running across it. They cannot be domesticated and shun human contact. Consequently, when photographed, they tend to look grumpy! However, they are important to the highland ecosystem, and this would make a lovely present for someone who cares about saving our native wildlife or loves cats, no matter how grumpy they might look!
