The latest Anne Lister images!
Following a successful talk at the London Lesbian History Group on the 30th November, I've updated my Anne Lister page to include many images of the work in progress, taken in October and November. I'm largely working on her underskirts and the folding of the fabric under her coat flaps, as well as her boots and gaiters. To do this she is often standing on her head, and her arms are getting bent in the wrong way, but by working from the base upwards these will be corrected an

Giving a talk on sculpting Anne Lister for the London Lesbian History Group.
I'll be giving a talk at the London Lesbian History Group on the 30th of November on the challenges of sculpting Anne Lister, what she really looked like, and the fine line she trod between 'masculine' and 'feminine' in her clothing and accessories. It's a real honour to be invited to speak and will be the first time I've visited since the late 1980's, when I attended a talk on Gluck by Diana Souhami there. I'm learning to love Power Point; it's the first time I've used it! #

Anne Lister is striding on a pace!
I've been a tad quiet these last couple of months as I'm busy working on the Anne Lister maquette. My Statue of Anne Lister Petition!
I've been studying Anne Lister's life since the late 1980's when I lived in and around Halifax. During my Ceramics Degree I also taught Lesbian Herstory at the Women's Centre in Nottingham, with one module dedicated just to the life of Anne Lister. I am now trying to persuade Calderdale Council that they need to have me sculpt the first public sculpture of an out modern lesbian, Anne Lister for Shibden Hall. To convince them I have set up a petition which you can find here: h
